Cameo Cliffs - Rated 4

Cameo Cliffs - Rated 4

The Cameo Cliffs trail area lies approximately 25 miles south of Moab, in a region recently incorporated into Jeep Safari routes. Exploration by early club member Jack Bickers in the 1990s identified multiple mineral routes, which combine to form this trail. The focus emphasizes moderate 4-wheeling alongside extensive views, suitable for those seeking less intense terrain with significant scenic elements. Scenery The area is bounded north by Utah 46, south by Sandstone Draw, and west by US191, offering ample visual features. Key points include Cameo Mesa, Dragon Rock, Yak Rock, Four Fins Overlook, and Wilson Arch Overlook. Distant views encompass the La Sal Mountains and Abajo Mountains against desert landscapes. Surface The trail features two-track dirt paths, sandy stretches, occasional small ledges, and bumpy rocky areas. Trail Details Certain shelves may necessitate multiple attempts. A winding segment through piñon and juniper trees demands careful navigation to avoid branches. A brief portion along a canyon rim may present discomfort for those sensitive to heights. Length: 83 overall, 28 off pavement Min Tire Size: 33+ inches Winch: No Front Locker: No Rear Locker: No
